Frequently Asked Questions
Using PAPPA
- What is PAPPA, and where do I start?
- PAPPA is a training and nutrition tracker: your workouts, your food, your bodyweight, and how you are recovering, in one place. Start on Home — it is the first tab, and it shows what is due today and what you logged most recently. The bar along the bottom is the whole app: Home, Training, Nutrition, Recovery and Plan, with More for everything else.
- How do I log a workout?
- Open the Training tab. Pick the routine you are doing, or search the exercise library directly, and record your sets and weights as you go. You do not need to plan a session in advance to log one — you can start from any exercise and it will be saved to today.
- How do I log what I eat?
- Open the Nutrition tab. Search the food database, choose your portion, and it is added to the day with its calories and macros. Foods you enter yourself are saved so they are quicker to find next time.
- What are the Recovery and Plan tabs for?
- Recovery is the read-only view of how things are going — your bodyweight over time, your training history, and how consistent you have been. Plan is the forward-looking one: your routines and what is scheduled. Recovery is where you find out what happened; Plan is where you decide what happens next.
- What else is in there?
- Under More you will find weight and hydration logging, supplements, reminders you set yourself, progress photographs, and My Gym — the list of equipment you actually have access to, which is what lets the app suggest exercises you can really do. There is also Talk, a voice assistant you can ask questions out loud.
Your account and your data
- What does it cost?
- PAPPA is free during the beta. No payment or pricing applies.
- What happens to my data?
- The app stores name, email, sex, birth date, height, bodyweight over time, workouts and loads, meals and calories, supplements, and progress photographs. Your progress photographs are kept in a private store and are not served to anyone else.
- Can I export it?
- Yes. Go to Settings, under the More tab, and export everything as either JSON or CSV. JSON keeps the full structure; CSV is easier to open in a spreadsheet. You do not have to be leaving to do this — take a copy whenever you want one.
- How do I delete my account?
- Open your Profile and scroll to Delete Account. You will be asked to type the email address you signed in with, which is there so it cannot happen by accident. Deleting removes your profile, workout logs, nutrition history and media files, and it cannot be undone — so export your data first if you might want it.
- Can I cancel?
- You can stop using PAPPA whenever you like — nothing is charged, so there is nothing to cancel. If you also want your data removed, delete your account from your Profile. That is permanent.
- What do I do if something breaks?
- Try logging out and back in first — it clears most stale-session problems. If it persists, report it with what you were doing when it happened and roughly when; that is usually enough to find it.
Health and safety
- Is this medical advice?
- No. PAPPA provides fitness tracking and nutrition logging only. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and nothing it shows you should be used in place of advice from a qualified professional who knows your history. If you have a medical condition, take medication, or are pregnant or postpartum, talk to your doctor about how it applies to you.
- Should I see a doctor before starting strenuous exercise?
- If you are unsure, yes — and it is worth doing rather than guessing. The usual advice is to get checked first if you have heart, lung, kidney or metabolic conditions, high blood pressure, joint problems, are pregnant or recently postpartum, are returning after a long time away or after an injury or surgery, or are taking medication that affects heart rate or blood pressure.
Stop and seek medical help if you get chest pain or pressure, unusual breathlessness, dizziness or fainting, or an irregular heartbeat during exercise. Those are not things to train through. - Will I lose weight using PAPPA?
- PAPPA cannot promise that, and you should be sceptical of anything that does. Bodyweight follows the balance of what you eat and what you expend over time, and that is affected by sleep, stress, medication, medical conditions and plenty else. What the app does is make the inputs visible and consistent, so you can see what is actually happening instead of guessing.
Bodyweight also moves day to day with water, food in transit and hormones. The trend over a few weeks tells you something; a single morning does not. If you have a specific target, or a condition that affects your weight, work it out with a doctor or a registered dietitian. - What if the app is wrong about my macros?
- Treat the numbers as good estimates, not measurements. They depend on the food entry you picked and the portion you told it, and database entries for the same food can differ. If something looks off, check the entry and the portion first. For targets that matter medically, consult a qualified nutrition professional.
